anyone get rid of their AFM(barn door)with a swap to MAF?

I've heard of this...an "upgrade" to getting rid of the troublesome AFM for like a Ford one...anyone?

"barn door" is a AFM or Air Flow Meter. You want to "upgrade" to a MAF. It has been done. I do not know the details. I think there was a guy RL who documented it very well. I think the MAF he used was from a taurus (I could be wrong).

Say what you mean, not what you say....

JK

Do a search on RL, you should be able to find all you need to know.

i hope to be switching over to a standalone here in a few days. it will be speed density and will not need a afm or maf. also will get rid of the distributor. i get the parts for free but if you were to pay for them it would cost around $600(probably more). that includes the price of a wideband.

my car runs kinda ****ty. i think it is the afm but rather than try and fix the stock stuff i figured i would just upgrade. i should be able to tune it to run closed loop and leaner than stock down the highway to save on gas. i will have full and easy acess to the tuning(fuel and spark). i can't wait to see if we can squeeze a few more hp out of the thing. not a project for everyone but i will have fun and so would some others.
