Getting the sunroof panel out
Good morning all,
Having now solved my Ignition Switch woes, I have turned my attention to the next 'big issue'; the sunroof. When I got the car, the previous owner told me that his local Porsche 'specialist' had diagnosed a failed motor and removed it. When I examined the car, however, the story was very different. The motor was still in place, but the drive cable had been completely pulled from the drive set and was laying in the boot. A little further inspection showed that the plastic catch at the back of the roof (the one that the lifting arm clips in to) was well and truly broken. To rectify this, I need to do two things - (1) remove the roof panel to replace the catch....and (2) remove the drive set and get the cable back in. Can anyone tell me how I get the roof panel out, without being able to operate the roof? The one side without a broken catch seems to be holding the panel firmly and I can't move the lifting arm. I am sure that the previous owner got the panel out but he was not a gifted communicator and so none of the instructions that he gave me make any sense. Also, has anyone seen a drive cable pull completely from a drive set like this? My car has the older type motro, where the cable pulls along a straight track. As always, any help will be gratefully received. Cheers, Ian. |

have you read through clarks-garage to see if it has any information that will help?
if you haven't been there before it's www.clarks-garage.com. just click on the "garage shop manual" link on the top left.... i'm not sure how gone your cables are.. but you can manually move the arms from under the cover that's behind the sunroof. iirc there's a large screw that you can turn with a flat head screwdriver... |
