+ 1

I've gotten as high as 37 mpg., but that's down in the flat lands.

93, based on absolutely no empirical evidence whatsoever.

I'd be curious to know what octane the timing advance is based on for these cars.

I use premium as well, and I know the 16V requires a higher octane rating than the 8V's.

Just wanted to see what the consensus was.

Thanks!

Our engine mangement system has knock sensing so if lower octane gas in put in such as 89 or less (Porsche says 91 i think), then the motor will "retard: timing slightly so engine doesn't knock. Driving around town isnt a big deal, but at 10.9:1 compression, under load, or high RPM, the engine may feel a bit sluggish.

Put the good stuff, go with min octane rating 91 or better.

Premium. These cars have high compression (10.9:1). However, you can use a lower octane gas and the knock sensor should compensate by retarding the timing with some power loss.

ahh see!

My understanding is that you are supposed to use premium so thats what I use. 87 is fine for long trips etc. as the anti knock sensor will kick in.

i run 93 in mine and its chipped....i don't run anything lower because of the chip.
is anyone running a different chip in theirs? i believe mines from lindsey.....and as for mileage, I get about 23 city, and 28max highway. Is the chip to blame?
