Racing Optics Windshield Tearoffs
Has anyone had any success with these things? Since I've replaced two windshields in the last season I decided to try this product as an alternative to a third windshield.
I had a new glass windshield installed and attempted to use the 2 layer tearoff. Needless to say I was far from pleased, I had what looked like soap scum or a haze between the windshield and the tearoff. Fitments was terrible but I managed to tuck it under the rubber seal going around the windshield on the drivers side and top part because the tearoff kept wanting to roll up on the ends. I think I know now why I've never seen anyone use these things in my area. I have a lapping day tomorrow and will give this a try, but really looks to be rather questionable as looking thru this thing is no where near as good as the new windshield!

Probably used in Lemans. I know its used in NASCAR. It's advertised for windshield glass and Lexan, but unless you live next to the vendor I wouldn't put it on glass.
I called the vendor and it’s supposed to be a 15 minute job and look undetectable, I pulled it off after just driving down the driveway, not as clear as I would prefer. I may have received an old stock tear-off or miss-mixed solution but I won't be using it on windshield glass. I’m definitely not a pro, but I bet this is a Lexan only item as I recall installing tint as a youth and never had the tint pop back up after it had been lying down for 15 minutes. And every time one end would curl up more miniature air bubbles were most likely induced as this was what the vendor called the haze that was left all over the windshield.
