bypass viper alarm

I just picked up this 83 944 parts\roller\maybe driver and it pissing me off:

I bought it without keys which was fine, I have a repalcement ignition, but after repalcing the ignition and no spark the owner then tells me" oh yeah it has a viper alarm"

any way to bypass it?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201139075.jpg

pull the alarm out, if you dont have the transmitter it's useless anyway for you.

damm, I wasnt looking forward to this, where are they usually mounted, I took a quick look and didnt see anything. Also what does the viper usually disable, starter or spark or both?

Disables starter. no alarm disables spark.

They could of put the brain anywhere in the car. best places to check are up under the dash above the drivers knees. Should be a small black box...around 1"x1"x5" or somwhere around there. they could of also put it somewhere over in the glovebox area, more room there.

Look for a push button trigger somewhere. It should of been installed if done right. would allow you to put the key in, turn it and then push the button to turn the alarm off.

Are you sure there is an aftermark alarm? Should also be an LED somewhere in the car. Check clarks-garage.com for the step to disable the factory alarm. If you can't find the viper alarm let me know and I will see what more info I can find for you. Will be pretty difficult to find someone who will tell you how to disable an alarm on the web though.

Oh yea, if it really is a true viper alarm, look for a speaker like this in the engine compartment.

I ran into this same issue on my '85.

I found the alarm box hidden under the driver's seat.
Hope it helps!

Thanks for the info gentlem! I may be barking up the wrong tree though, I was able to disable the factory alarm and the car does crank, no spark though(probably why I was able to buy the car at the price I did) Anyway I will now assume the alarm is not the problem and try to track down the no spark. Maybe there is a kill switch that he "forgot" to mention. There is an led and it stays on until the key is turned. BTW I did find a similliar horn in the cowl are as well as the factory alarm horn.

There is no factory alarm horn. it's uses the normal car horn.

If there is a horn like the one in the link then follow that cable to the alarm brain.

Unless he added some kind of home grown kill switch there isn't one from the factory.

OK, I got the viper removed, it seemed pretty simple, no start yet though.
Looks like I have other problems, doung the clarks test I have voltage to both sides of the injectors, Ill post this as a seperate issue: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-924-944-968-technical-forum/389302-voltage-both-sides-injector.html
, thanks for the help!
