Just for Fun: Weekly Quick Poll

I've added a new "quick poll" feature to Ideola's Garage. These are 1 or 2-question "quick polls" on a variety of transaxle-Porsche related topics. Each poll will be active for four weeks, so within a month, there will be up to four polls active at any given time. I've already got 52 weeks worth of polls lined up, so I'll post here each Monday with a link to the new poll.

For each poll, you can vote once, after which you will be able to view the results. There's no registration required, and it's completely anonymous (hopefully, this won't be abused!). These are strictly for fun, I'm not collecting any demographics or anything at all like that.

How many miles per year do you put on your Porsche(s)?

For the geeks among us, I'm using an open source tool called LimeSurvey. It provides a lot of different options for polling, much more robust than the simple poll facility provided here on the forum. Eventually, you'll see different types of voting options, including picklists, multiple questions, matrices, etc.

I hope you'll enjoy participating in these. If you have a poll idea or any suggestions for how to improve this feature, shoot me a PM.

I put 19K miles on my Boxster in the first year I owned it. Almost 26K since I bought it. But since I got that, my race only 944 has only seen maybe 500miles.

Yeah, this would be a hard one for me to answer...I have four road-going waterpumpers, I guess I probably average about 5,000 a year on each one...pretty cool, we've had over 40 responses on the first day!

...regarding the poll system, LimeSurvey, it is very slick. They even offer a hosted service option, which I used on a trial basis before going to the trouble of downloading and configuring it. My web host provides MySQL and PHP support, so it was a snap to configure. The install script went off without a hitch, and I was up and running in probably less than an hour. Took me forever to create all 52 polls for the upcoming year, but it even supports the ability to import, so I created a import template, and used that to pre-configure all of the polls. Then I only had to modify the questions, the style of presentation, etc. The presentation template works really well too, once you figure out where all of the stuff is. I did end up having to hack some of the PHP files because the GUI didn't provide access to everything I wanted to tweak, but if you know PHP, it's a snap.
