Caster Blocks: M030 vs. 968 upgrade?
 

I have a question on this part...

The original 944/951 caster block has been discontinued, as far as I know. The part you can order now is PN: 951 341 023 01, which I believe is the 968 caster block. This part is an upgrade that is needed/recommended if you go to 17"+ wheels, and is readily available in the US for $80.

There is also an M030 caster block for the 951 that is still available PN: 951 341 023 30. This part has to come from Germany, and is almost 3X the price of the 968 caster block ($200).

So my question is, is there any difference at all between these two parts? I have heard many times that the 968 caster block is supposed to be like the M030 one, so I am just wondering if this is just Por$che doing their thing, or is there a real difference.

I'd just stick with the 968 part, as it technically IS newer than even the M030 block, and is more readily available.

Perhaps someone who actually knows the difference will chime in, but the 968 block is the recommended part.

I believe the 968 part is also a beefier part too.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and ordered some of the 968 blocks. Sounds like that is the best way to move forward.

Anyone know where to find that Tech. Bulletin? I would like to have a copy of that one for my next alignment.

Putting in an M030 upgrade to my struts/torsion bars/shocks, so sounds like it makes sense to redo the main other suspension parts as well.

I am also upgrading to 17" wheels. I called a local Porsche dealer this weekend and asked for pricing for the parts specified in the tech bulletin:

Rear Mount 951 341 023 00 $48.12
Eccentric 951 341 431 02 $66.15
Nut 900 910 115 02 $ 1.28


Here is what confuses me. This thread refers to a 951 341 023 01 instead of the 00. Does the 01 supercede the 00? The dealer did not mention a superceded part number. Does anyone know for sure which is the correct part number?

Yes, the 00 is the early part number. Use the 01 part number and you will be good.
