Got the stupid wheel locks off
Folks,
First of all thanks for the prior threads in the forum on how to remove the wheel locks. When I picked up the car last week, the PO says, oh yeah, the keys are in the glove box. We look -- no. He says he'll find them in the house and then get them to me. Well.. we all know where that went. So, I figured I'd add a post about about how I got them off. From prior threads, it was either pick the lock or drill them out: - I managed to pick the lock on 2 of them (using one small screwdriver to hold the spinning, another to try to move the little pins. - The other two wheels I had to drill out. (final size 3/8 in.) I put some pictures below in case it helps the next guy with this problem. I believe these locks are the OEM Porsche locks. I called the local Porsche dealer, they have no copies, no master, but offered to drill them out for $65. It is tricky to pick the lock. There are 3 pins inside the cylinder. Each pin locks into a channel in the lug nut. If you move the pin too far with the pick, the other side of the pin will then go into a channel in the lug nut. I went to a locksmith first also, but he gave up in 1 minute. It is an unusual locking mechanism. I'll be asking more questions here, so I figured I better contribute something if I can. (Rear wheel bearings are next.) Roland ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had the problem when I got my car. But I went to my local locksmith. He charged me $45 to pick one and make 2 keys. Now I still have them on the car, and keys to get them off.
