Towing...please help!
Hey guys, been a little while since i've posted here, but don't worry, i've been around lurking in the shadows.
So...here's my dilemna, I'm considering purchasing a car from a pelicanite in New York, and i really don't have a way of getting it home. BTW this car is a porsche of the 924/944 variant don't worry, i'm not abandoning you all! So.........problem..........my dad is very worried about the truck we use for trailering cars and things, it is truly on its last leg, and he's very worried about the car falling apart in New York if we were to go get it (trust me, with this truck, this is more than just possible...) My Proposition........If i choose to buy this car, which will be in the next week(ish) i will need to figure out how to get it home (Maryland)/school (Philly) before Friday the 29th of February, as i will be leaving Philadelphia for a two week Spring Break. As you can see i'm in a bit of a pickle because personally i have no way of picking the car up, so i'm asking you all for advice, and if you could lend a hand and maybe trailer the car to philly so we can pick it up and take it home, i would definitely compensate you well for it... Please help! Thanks in advance guys! Ethan |
Look for a car hauler...sometimes they aren't too expensive. A few phone calls may help.

Where is it in NY?
|
As long as the maintenance is up to date, I'd just drive the car. NYC to Philly isn't far, at all.
Well, if it's snowing don't drive it. And take it easy. Otherwise, borrow someone else's truck if you're that worried about it. |
Interior is partially removed and the car is in Westchester, isn't registered or insured...
|
Last year I bought a 944 from just outside of NYC, and drove it home, not insured nor registered, put my old 924S plate on it and drove it home to Bucks Co. PA. Didnt do anything too stupid, flew by some people, but smart about it. You should be allright if you were to drive it home (philly), but Maryland might be a little too far. U-haul may rent you a trailer, could rent it in NY, and give it back to a PA dealer. Good Luck.

I couldn't see a hauler charging more then $300. I had one quote me only $400 to go from Baltimore to St. Louis.
Call around to find some hauling companies. |
i will look into some things, but i may have found something real close that will work, so we'll see!
Thanks guys! Ethan |
