actually how easy is it to bypass the resistor ?

on an s2

kind of a vague question.

do you want to eliminate the dimming capability or the lites themselves?

wires on the back could be unplugged but i don't know if you lose all lites or dimming capability or any other issues.

dashboard lights have got a lot dimmer, the dimmer switch dulls and brigtens it but its still pretty crap,

thought about bypassing te resistor totally.

so hence the question

If you are hoping to fix your dim dash lights by bypassing this, give up now.
Your problem is not in the switches or the wiring. Your problem is the same as all of have. The reflectors for the dash lights have become dull with age. Or they have lost most of the reflective coating.
You can re coat them and put in new bulbs, or go one step further with LEDs
The good news is this can be fixed. Do a search here and you can see how many have tackled this problem in the past.

It's not the resistor that is making your lights dim. It's more that the reflective material used to redirect the dash lighting is falling off. There are many options to fix this and there are so many threads on how people have done it. Many have replaced the standard lights with LEDs while others have replaced the reflective material and kept the factory light bulbs. That's a personal choice on which way you go. Do a search on the forum on the past posts and it will tell you everything from a ten dollar solution to about a hundred dollar solution.

I got a kit from a guy on eBay, had the reflectors, and an LED Upgrade kit for a good price. I installed mine, they stay on or off, no dimming, but the results are great. I got the Blue kit and also got the Blue LED Light for the clock and Defrost lever. It looks cool and just perfect light for the gauges. Mike
