Exchanging Brakes on 1977 Porsche 924
Hello, I am a new member, and I am restoring my 924 Martini Editiion Race Car. I am leaving it as original as possible, but for a few exceptions, the exaust, the wheels and components, and the stereo system.
I am going to be replacing the 4 lug pattern 924 brakes with 944-5-lug brakes, so that I may place Porsche 997 Turbo rims on the vehicle. I am probably the first to be placing these rims on this vehicle, but I have used my computer to see what it would look like with them, and it looks fantastic. I was curious as to if anyone has ever converted he four lug pattern to fivelug, where they acquired their parts, and if there is a place as to there are basic instructions as to accomplishing this. Thank you for your time. I know it may seem as a bit ridiculous of an idea at the moment, but I am sure this will turn out great, thank you. Please Post! ![]() -Ian |

Pretty easy - just find someone parting an early 944 - get the master, the hubs, spindles, backing plates for the rear, calipers, the obvious. Definitely worth doing, the old solid disc/rotor setup is a drag...
![]() Oh, yeah - you'll need to install and wire in a brake-pedal based brakelight switch. The tab might already be there, was in my '79. The stock brake light switch is a pressure-based switch in the master.
