Titanium rods & valves 924 Turbo/GT

Hi everyone.

Does anyone have an idea were to get titanium rods and valves for the 931 engine?
I want to prepare a 924 Turbo for street/rallye use but to complete the engine I need the titanium parts.
I dont wanna take the stock parts for a motor with a higher boost level or does anyone have any experiences with the factory parts in a modified engine?

I would really appreciate every usable answer!!

Many thanks

Manuel

The factory Carrera GTR's did not even have titanium rods. They got by with forged rods. I would put your efforts towards finding a good set of forged rods. The GTR's made in the neighborhood of 400BHP for reference.

You may try the boards at 924.org for more info.

Pauter Rods

Think the GTRs didn't use the Audi motor, but one similar to the 944.

The GTRs definitely use the Audi motor.......modified up to 360 horses but nevertheless its the same block.

I called pauter and they can supply them so thank you for the info.

How much power are you looking for , a prepared stock block will do 300 bhp, if you plan to exceed 350 then i would use pauter rods. The GTR used vw/audi bottom end with Porsche cylinder head , the bottom end was extensively modified and dry sumped. the GTR's where over 375 bhp and the gtp made more power, as they had the 2.5 L 16 V, soon to be 944 engine.

Modifying the 924 head is expensive and unnecessary ( unless you plan on exceeding 300 bhp) but can be done . upgraded cams are available remember to upgrade the valve springs also and replace the rotator cups if you plan to spin past 7000 rpm.

I wanna get around 280bhp with the 993 turbocharger (possible?).
I will use a complete 3" stainless steel exhaust system and a front mount intercooler.
Do you know what kind of engine setup i have to choose (cams, pistons, rods) because here in germany i cant get useable infos

If you want custom rods, get in touch with use ideola - he had some made, not sure the specs, but they were lovely and a good price...

Yeah, GTR's were based on the 2.0L iron block; you're thinking of the GTP's, which were the 2.L alloy block.

Drop in at 924board.org, you can get the info you need. Don't think a 993 turbo unit would make sense, just need maybe a custom-tweaked K26 with intercooler, more boost, and a good fuel engine management system. 250 shouldn't be that hard...

I also think you should be fine with stock parts blueprinted and balanced. They're very solid.
