stock rear torsion bar sizes?
Hello! I'm fairly new to the forum. I did some previous searching to find my answer to my question, but was unable to find it. Of the 924's, 944's, and 968's that use a 26 9/16 long rear torsion bar, is there any years/models that had a factory Porsche bar larger than 23.5mm? I know that Sway-A-Way has the aftermarket 22-30mm bars, but is there a stock Porsche bar thats around 26mm? Thanks!

Great! It looks like the late 80's M030 Optioned 944S/944T Cars had the larger 25.5 rear torsion bars. Is this M030 Option something that was common on U.S. Models, or was it something rare? Hey flash968, do all years of 968's have the 25.5 rear bars? Thanks!

25.5mm torsion bars are out there, mainly due to the difficult nature of the install into the car.
Many people take them out completely and go with 450-500# coilovers in the back, as that allows for more ride adjustability and general flexibility than do sway bars. Some reinforcement of the mounts is desireable, however. Cheers, Keith
