How to repair the whatchamacallit
Hello All,
Well I have looked all over here at Pelican and most other places I can find, but I have yet to find a part number or even a mention of it any place. I am trying to find a repair procedure or replacement part for the cloth leader that runs down the leading edge of the drivers foot well panel . The same panel the holds the rear hatch opener and the hood opener. That piece of cloth that is next to the very door opening bead welt. Mine is about to become frayed from rubbing feet/shoes getting in and out over the years. Any ideas or suggestions from any one? Thanks in advance, Ed.

I got some pieces of material from the nearest fabric shop, and sewed these on after removing the existing webbing. I got a needle for sewing blue jeans, and some heavier thread, and used a normal sewing machine.
The old stuff had disintegrated pretty much, and the new stuff worked perfectly. Let me take some pictures and post them, but it was pretty straightforward. Good luck, Keith

I didn't do what Keith did but that is a good idea. I didn't trust my sewing ability so I took mine to an upholstery shop and they did both kick panels for $30 and they look great. They had the same exact material and it matched perfectly. A.J.

Hello,
Both sound like a way to get it done. So after the new material is sewed in place does it just go behind the bead welt there at the door opening (I have not taken it apart yet to see what's going on behind that bead welt yet). Seems like one could just sew it in place on the panel side then just lay it over the metal and then place the door jam bead welt back in place to hold it there. With the replies from AJ and KD I think I'm getting the idea of the repair. I will probably search a couple of auto upholstery places to see if they have that type of material probably this coming weekend. Thanks guys, and may the p-force be with you. Ed.

There are some metal clips that hold the fabric to the body of the car. It really is that easy.
