Mintax Brake Pad Warning

I decided I would save a few dollars and buy the Mintax brake pads for my Porsche 944S2. When I took the pads out of the box and compared them to the old pads everything seemed to match up. So I started to install the pads. After attempting to do this for over an hour, I was convinced these pads were not produced to spec. So I decided to take them to a shop in town, they allowed me to use the grinder. I ground away the parts that were not allowing the pad to fit into the calipers. I returned home and attempted to put the pads into the calipers. After doing some addition filing I finally got one pad to fit correctly... Then I thought to myself Is this really safe ? NO. I went back upstairs like a good little boy and ordered the Green Stuff pads like I have with all my other cars...lesson learned Mintax JUNK BAD BAD

I have actualy heard more bad things about EBC than Mintex. I have no experience with EBC pads so I have no authority to say. I have used Mintex and they are ok for average street use, they fade quickly and smell awful when hot. I only use Hawk or Porterfield personally.

I just sent an e-mail of to Mintex about the problem. EBC pads have been very good to me I am hoping they will do the same on the Porsche
