Bleeding Cylinders

I know...... the are a million and one posts on how to bleed your master and slave cylinder. I have read them and still have no answer to my problem. I have a 87 944s which I have just replaced both the master and slave cylinder. That was a load of fun. The problem I am having is getting my clutch peddle back to normal. I have done the whole depress and hold clutch peddle open bleeder and repeat sequence until there was no air in the line. With that said and done I still only have maybe 50% of my peddle. The peddle is very spongy as well. Is there something I am missing or something else that maybe broken or is it time to just go and get a Motive bleeder? Any insight would be helpful.

Sounds like you still have air in the lines.

Get the power bleeder and you will be better off and take less then an hour.

in the mean time try pumping the clutch pedal before cracking the bleed valve open, (pump alot like 25-35 times each time, this may help get the air out)

A power bleeder is the best $45.00 you will invest. While you have it set up renew all the fluid by bleeding out the brakes.

I just got a power bleeder today, and it is convenient at least... I got it at NAPA for $50. All you do is hook it up and pump a handle, creating a vacuum. Its hard to say how many bubbles it got out, since air leaked in from around the hose. I ended up bleeding each caliper about 4 peddle presses each at the end... It is A LOT easier though. You can just do it by yourself and it does suck out the fluid with a vacuum, so it should work better than by hand.

Also, I am not familiar with the clutch peddle setup, but is there a rubber bushing or spring that pushes the peddle back up? If there is something like that, it may just be worn...

Aslet, no spring to pull it back up it's done through hydraulics and clutch tension. If there is air in the line, the air will compress and not push the pedal back up. I am glad you like your bleeder, but I think you would have liked the motive power bleeder much better.

Thanks everyone. It's sounds like my best bet is to get a Motive power bleeder and get more air out of the system. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks.
