What are good compression ranges for a 85/2 944?
Any idea??

What the number is isn't really important. What you are looking for is all cylinders being relatively close to the same. I can't remember what my 86 was but I'm thinking anything over 150 should be ok.

If they are within 10 percent, you are ok. What you don't want is three at 135 and one at 80. Then you have some work to do. He should also run the leak down test though because the head gaskets are getting old on these cars and they can form leaks and cause problems. The compression test is only half the story.

It looks like the PO rebuilt, or at least replaced the head gaskets and seals. I can see the red sealant around most of the gaskets on the engine. I guess I won't find out how well of a job he did until I get it running.
