968 exhaust manifold gaskets
i bought my 968 with rsbarn headers and full exhaust and im pretty sure it is leaking exhaust out from where the header meets the head. now looking at the exploded views it looks like the 968 takes the crush rings and not the usual gasket that just slips over the exhaust studs. so my question is are these rings are what should be used on the rsbarn header or should something else be used. looking at my header now it looks like there isnt any gasket. if you do have to use these crush rings how do you install them? how do you get them to stay in place while while installing the header?

yes - use the OEM crush rings - they are not particularly cheap either - sometime you can reuse them - sometimes not - unfortunately it is a pain in the butt to find out

ya i went ahead and used the crush rings, i used a dab of exhaust acousti-seal to hold them in place then bolted the header back in place. although now the header doesnt sit flush with the head... as the crush ring is in the way. i figured the ring would flatten out but it didnt and i wanted to make sure i didnt strip the stud. so should there be a gap?

I'd call the previous owner and ask if it ever fit correctly from the start.
