how to tell waterpump

I'm sure i've seen this question asked recently, but i cant seem to find it...

is there an easy way to tell what water pump you have in your car without popping off the belt covers?

looking to do the job soon as i'm starting to get a bearing noise out the front... i'm convinced it's the power steering pump, but the job is due to be done anyway, it's coming up a couple years..

The only way to tell is to check for the block off plate on the front of the waterpump. But even if yours does not have it, it could still be an updated pump. This is basically assuming the pump was replaced with a newer 951 style (not totally uncommon).

Best bet is to remove the top portion of the belt cover and look for the belt guard.

I think it's a moot point as all the replacement pumps are the same. Just get the turbo pump and the block-off plate.

How's life where you are, Kyle?

I could be wrong but, I think **********.com has older syle pumps around. I think I remember seeing them on their site.

I guess it's worth mentioning that a belt guide bar, lock nuts, and oversized roller would also be needed to complete the update.

Post away. A pic from the front showing the outlets would do.

Here we've had some really nice days followed by reminders that we're not out of the woods yet. Cold, snow. You know, the kind of weather where you've gotta give the car's back window a scrape. Too warm for a parka and too cold for a jean jacket.
