Lining up the trans?

So I spoke to the PO and he told me that the Trans. needed to be lined up on the car that I bought from him. What does he mean by this? Is there a write up on how to align it? How can I tell if it's misaligned? Thanks

Never heard of that one. Maybe he meant the rear wheels needed to be aligned? That's possible.

Is the transaxle/rear end making any noise or vibrations? Are the tires wearing strange? If the car is running and performing okay, I'd forget about it.

Well, I haven't even started the car yet so I don't know. When I sit in the car and go through the gears, it seems to be fine. I don't know what he was talking about??

Apart from what Mike said may be you should check the coupling on the input shaft. This is done by removeing the large rubber plug in the front bell housing on the transmission and check that the bolts are tight. It cold be worth while checking all the bolts if the trans has been removed
