Engine block coolant drain plug
I want to completely drain my engine's water jacket. Where in god's name is the block drain plug. Haynes manual was no help, and I couldn't find it based on the illustration on Clarks garage.
|
it's below the exhaust manifold. Believe it's either #3 or #4. Not easy to get at with the car in the engine.
If I remember right it's a 12mm or 13mm bolt. |
I have the head and manifolds off. There are a lot of bolts sticking out down there... can anyone post a pic?
|
It really is the only one on the side of the engine. Behind the balance shaft.

Ok, i got it. I was looking too low on the block, and it was higher up on the block than I thought - plus it was tough to see from the angle I was looking.

Chris,
I saw your post but could not open the photo of the 944 coolant drain plug location. Could you send this to me please? I am new to the site (just registered), so if there is a trick to open the photo on the site, please let me know. My 944 is a 1984 automatic, and I just put a new radiator and all water hoses in it, and I now need to fully flush all the coolant. Thanks. Mark |
They deleted the plug in 1989 (89-91), so don't go looking for it on the newer cars.
