Wheel Painting Question

If I do decide to keep my S2 wheels, I am going to repaint them. For the most part they are in excellent shape other that some minor blemishes. What I have done in the past is, clean and wet sand my wheels with a high grit sand paper, let them dry, wipe them down, put vaseline on the tires (so you can wipe the overspray right off) and spray them with silver paint and then do a few coats of clear...? Any other ideas ? I am for sure painting the center caps all silver, I can stand that painted porsche crest.

I've painted other wheels with the specialized wheel paint that dupli-color makes (I think it's dupli-color). I usually get it at Autozone or Advance Auto. It goes only thick, so I've found that you don't have to worry about doing a good sanding job... I had a set of wheels where the coating was partially coming off, so there were ridges where it had come off, and the ridges were completely hidden by the paint.

I used duplicolor silver with their clear. I followed their instructions on the website and they came out great.

Get a short roll of aluminum flashing (hardware store) cut it 4-5 inches longer than the circumference of you rim, stand on edge around rim (on the tire) and tape it together so you have a "paint barrier" so much of the overspray stays off of you tires.
