Half axle diameter

Just ordered a new CV joint assembly. Looks good except the half axle is much thicker than expected. By about half an inch corcumferance than what's on the car. I have reason to believe at least on CV has been replaced. Maybe the axles that were on it were both undersized or the new half axle is too thick. Are there models of this half axle with a bigger diameter? Is it ok to mix the two?

Yes, there were different half shafts, and

No, they should be both the same.

It would help if you told us what model and year car you have, 924, 944, 951, 968?

However why not give our host (Pelican) a call, they’ll have the correct one for you. You’ll still need to give them the year and model of your car though.
