Can't Close Hood?
Title pretty much says it all... the hood won't close.
I've been gone for a week, and when I popped the hood to have a peek inside last night everything seemed fine. I go to close the hood and only the secondary latch engages. The cable isn't broken - it springs back and forth freely. How do I go about fixing this thing? I'd like to get this taken care of; I plan on putting the car up for sale soon since I just don't have enough time these days to give the car the proper attention it needs.

Make sure the main locking tab releases freely when you pull the cable. If it doesnt, clean the area with brake cleaner (or whatever) then relube with white lithium grease.

Will do... from what it looked like late last night it seems like the part that holds it in isn't going back where it's supposed to go. I tried forcing it back without any success and shot the area with spray-on lithium grease. When I have a look this afternoon it won't be nearly as dark as it was at 11:00pm.

Check the rivets that hold the latch to the radiator support. Two of mine broke and I lost my hood on the highway when it flew open.

Figured the stupid thing out finally. I had to remove the rivets that hold the latch on and operate on the latch itself. It's held together with metal tabs, and over time they started to loosen and the catch moved out of place. Bolted it back on and it's good as new. For what it's worth, it looks like one or two of the aluminum rivets were getting close to the end of their life. The factory should've just used self-tapping bolts...
