16V ignition rotor / timing
Doing the belts and we took the distributor rotor off the camshaft timing gear. Probably didn't need to but it's done
![]() On the 16V the rotor has three mounting screws and the cam timing gear has three mounting holes. However, the three mounting holes on the cam timing gear are oval in shape, allowing you to apparently advance or retard the ignition timing depending on where you put it in. I don't see how we are going to put it back on in the right spot and I can't find any mention of this at Clarks or in the shop manuals. Does anybody have any experience on this? ![]()

I did the same thing, however I just put it back on and prayed...

Yeah turns out my memory was incorrect. The oval passages are there, but the mounting screw only goes into the one hole each behind those oval passages. No problem.
Trying to get the coolant vented at 12 midnight... now that's a problem!! ![]()
