I saw this car yesterday...is this a custom build up ? I thought the decription was stating a Porsche option...? Maybe a Porsche that came from Amsterdam

i saw this car 2 years ago back east - it's out here now - i believe the color code is F9 amethyst metallic

the headlights stick up above the fender about a half inch - not sure they point right either - it was daylight, so we couldn't turn them on, but they sure looked like they would point up - the angle of the 993 light is wrong for the 968 - also, that car underwent some pretty serious sheet metal work just to get them to fit like they do

there are a couple of people who have done this - none of them fit right

a lot of people have looked at this extensively, including myself - we'd all like to get rid of the pop-ups for our own different reasons (mine is weight) - there is no easy way to do this - the best way would be to use replacement fenders, and completely change the front profile to accommodate the light - if you use fiberglass or carbon fiber fenders, you will also need to reinforce the chassis, because the car is a unibody car, and the fenders provide rigidity

there are a number of "conversions" that have been tried too, but so far they all look "kit car" or cobbled together - the inset lights look out of place in a round hole - the covers people have used over them are flat and look very out of place - just not a finished look on a street car, though not terribly hideous on a race car where it doesn't matter as much

... and you have to ask yourself, "what's the point"? The visual difference isn't even that stark. I think that the 968's nose looks great the way it is.

given that i have pulled 240 lbs out of the car, and am constantly looking for more, removing 30 lbs of mechanisms and such is attractive

however, i don't want to mess with the lines, and little things (like the lamps sticking up above the fender, or flat covers) bother me

i might consider 996 lights if i ever do a full tilt front end, though i am probably alone in that room

What did you pull out of your 968 for the 240Lbs weight reduction?

lol - it's a long list - a little here, a little there - nothing creature comfort though - i'm too old for a rattly noisy uncomfortable car, but i was able to yank quite a bit

heck, ditching the oem seats and installing some custom made recaro sportlines was good for over 50lbs all by themselves
