swap '86 Girling booster into early ATE car?
Question 1:How hard is to remove the brake booster?
Question 2: Can I put the '86 Girling booster into an '82 (euro) 944 that has an ATE? Engine is out of both cars. Thanks

Not difficult to remove. If you can remove and replace spark plugs then booster should not be a problem. There is a good write-up in the Haynes manual. You will have to loosen and remove the pressure lines from the cylinder - this will in turn require a brake bleed job. I seem to recall it was quite a hassle to loosen the nuts from inside the car's firewall.
The factory manual only gives the diameter of the booster as 9", this applies to all models. The booster factor for the turbo and s2 is slightly higher. I do not know if they are interchangeable, but if they fit, all the bolt holes the same, I'll give it a try.

I'm thinking they probably will both fit, but require the same brand master cylinder to go with it. I'm pretty sure you can't mix and match master cylinders and boosters with different brands.

Thanks, I have both booster and master that are relatively new that can go into the '82, so it sounds like no problem.
