any value to an 82 924 turbo w/o trans?
Looking for valuation for a friend who located a 82 924 turbo with low miles (34K) and trannys gone. whats it worth?

well the tranny is the same as in the NA 944 so that should be an easy fix

Plenty of non-running 944s are around for $500 or so.
For a low-mileage example, he is far better off putting a tranny in it so it can sell as a good working car. |

Main questions will be does it run otherwise, and what is the cosmetic condition. As noted, trannies are readily available, interchange (for the 81-82 931 only) with a 944 trans (early). I even have one sitting in my storage unit ready to sell...
Mileage doesn't really help; may or may not be legit, as these odos fail just like the 944's. Besides, age and maintenance/storage care is the more significant factor in value, besides cosmetics. Location might affect things slightly on the price too, but in the US they don't vary that much. I'd say not more than $1200 or so for a non-runner, possibly as low as $500 or worse if it's cosmetically a mess and/or hasn't run for some years. If the cosmetics are really nice, could be worth up to $2k. Really nice, pretty runners are worth up to $6k or more, IMO, though of course you may have to wait to find a buyer. HTH...
