Turbo head?
Well I took my head off my old engine that I took out of my car, and went to take a look at it yesterday. I turned it over and notice it had turbo stamped on it.
My question is, if has that, and what sound like when you tap them is ceramic valves, is it a turbo head? It is from an 83 944 engine. the original one in my car. Also, I was wondering what it is worth, if it is regular or as a turbo head in excellent condition? Thanks, Trevor

Was it just the head gasket that said Turbo? If so that is the standard issue HG for all 944's. Sounds like your HG was replaced at some point. The Turbo head is easy to spot, it has ceramic (beige color) linings in the exhaust ports and the valves are noticeably larger.

The cylinder head does not say turbo on it. The updated headgasket does, the mark you saw was probably left over from that (on the sealing surface of the cylinder head).
