New 924S Owner

I just bought a 1987 924S. It is in very good condition.

However, I cannot get my low beams to light. The Headlights pop up and the parking lights come on but no low beams. Headlights are both verified good. I checked with a meter at the fuse block at fuse position 1 AND 2 and do not have power at either of the fuses with the Headlight Switch on. However, with the Headlight switch on and hitting the lever for the high beams, the high beams come on. When I check with the meter on fuses 1 and 2, I now have power to them in addition to the High Beams Fuses at position 3 and 4. I replaced the Headlight switch with a new one but I have the same symptom. I do not have a schematic diagram and do not know where to go from here.

Can anyone help with this one?

Have you replaced the relay yet?

According to the Owners Manual, there is no associated relay for the Headlights -Low or High Beam.

Just skimmed through your post, but sounds like maybe the switch (on the column) is the problem...

I had the same problem. You will have to cut the wire harness vinyl cover(outer casing) at the bend right below the headlight on each side and you will more than likely see the wires are cut from bending up and down everytime the lights are turned on. I have had the same problem with 2 of my cars already. Each low and high are on different lines and it the wire isn't shorting it will not blow the fuse. I just crimped on a but connector on either side and problem was solved.

Thank you 924RACR, I will start metering there if I can get on the switch contacts. I found some diagrams on for the 944 on Pelicans site that may help. They confirm that in that model, the low beam 12VDC goes through the column switch.

Thank you ZEDSN, I will try this next if the column switch checks out.
