I finally got my TPS to work. The zip ties are the end result of everything I hate about working on cars (well, 99% all. It wasn't raining) that all happened at once.
A 15 min job turns into a 1 hr job, it's late (and dark), I ended up using the most retarded flashlight in the universe, I couldn't hold on to a bolt or tool to save my life, had to make 10 trips in and out of the house to get simple tools I forgot to bring, wrestling with the stupid RTV sealant with bits of cured sealant clogging the tip, mounted the TB only to find that the TPS adjustment was off and the idle switch wouldn't always click, took it back off, finally lost a bolt good down the alternator bracket, took the AFM/airbox out only to find that it really did vanish into nowhere, driving myself nuts knowing that A: there's a bolt down in the engine comparment somewhere and B: I only have 3 bolts left, which leads to C: this job is looking like it will not be possible to complete to perfection and I will lay awake at night knowing my throttle body only has 3 bolts, my perfectionistic nature dwells on the aformentioned less than ideal circumstances, recycles them over and over in my mind until they are finally blown so out of proportion that, fearing a major mental meltdown imminent, I chuck the remaining 3 bolts down the street to be lost forever in the darkness, suck it up, and zip tie it together so I can go to work the next morning. At least my TPS repair actually worked. Even with clean contacts and the wiring harness checking out fine, I was still getting a bad connection somewhere in the WOT switch. I localised it to the TPS plug area and could not figure out for the life of me what was causing it. I decided it had to be an internal solder joint in the TPS, so I soldered bypas wires directly from the connector pins to the WOT switch parts. ![]() TPS with the plastic cut away to expose the backside of the pins. ![]() Repair in progress. ![]() Finished. ![]() Ain't going to get much better! The drive today confirms that it is in fact working well, as do the zip ties! The WOT maps are definitely even stronger that the normal straight DME maps with no O2 sensor.

Nice job...well except for the zip ties...but i'm glad you got it fixed. When I did my TPS it had a glitch at WOT after the initial 0ohm reading and then would go back to 0 ohms after dipping down. I bent the contacts and cleaned them good and worked perfect. Looks like you had more issues than just that though LOL.

I bought some nice shiny new stainless steel bolts today, only to find that they are too big. Not too big a deal. I have faith in my zip ties! (and have more zip ties in the seat if those die on the road)
BTW, I can't believe that stupid piece of plastic with two switches costs like $80 new!

No crap! someone is makin a killin. It doesn't even have resistors, it's just two switches that are either open or closed. Course the AFM is mildly more complicated and is like a $500 peice LOL
