idle's at 1900 RPM!!
let it run today to get the inners moving. revved it to 3k slowly held it there for a sec then slowly let it back to idle and it only dropped to 1900. before this it would idle rough between 400-600 for a sec then jump to 1100...
another thing is the headers are smoking pretty badly. oil on/in them? i changed the cam cover gasket started it and smoked not too bad. but now every time i start it up it smokes. like oil is coating them somehow..

you might have a stuck throttle cable...
the cam gasket probably spilled oil onto the headers, it may take some time to burn it all off. |

also high idle can be indicative of the TPS going out. I just did a rebuild on mine a week ago and it fixed it. Pretty slick fix for not a dime.

yeah, it sure doesn't hurt that's for sure. it took me around an hour to disassemble, clean and put back together and i was takin it easy. if nothing more you don't have to do it later! to fix mine though, the contacts needed to be cleaned with emery cloth to get it to read right.
