red wire w/ melted resistor? -behind DME

My car is currently inoperable and I have found a red wire behind the dme that has about a 3" long plastic connector with something inside that possibly resembles a resistor. It has been totally melted. I have a feeling that this may be causing my problem. Can someone tell me what it is, what it does and where I can buy one? Thank you

Doesn't sound familiar to me....

There are a lot of things that will cause a 944S to not start. Never heard of a red wire with a melted resistor.

Sounds like something aftermarket, like an alarm or something?

Got any pictures??

Thanks guys for the responses.

bholmes: That is like nothing i have seen before on my car.

If none of you have ever heard of it before then I assume it must be aftermarket. The wire does not lead to the DME from what I can see but I will try to trace it for the hell of it. I would supply a picture but I already threw away the plastic piece since it was all melted.

As for getting the car running I think Im forced to find a shop that will work on her. Thanks again
