Update

Well, I got the parts for my cylinder head and I got the valves in tonight and torqued the head, tomorrow I hope to check the compression and get some of it put back together. I fear my heart is being led astray by another car though....mmmm MINI.......

the 09's are coming out in august.. i think i can snatch one of the remaining '08s up at that time...
they're just so freakin' expensive for what you get.. lol
you save so much money by buying in the US - check out the mini.ca prices sometime.. lol

man, in US you can't get a mini with out ordering. they are almost ALL sold out. I called three dealerships with in 200miles of my home and none had ANY instock. So i'm going to order on tuesday i think. I'll let you know. BUt my mini configuration is lightening blue with white top and white bonnet stripes, an "S" model of course, with the 5 star type standard wheels, leatherette upholstery and the multifunction steering wheel for the cruise control. It's a manual tranny of course. It'll run me around 24k with taxes and all.

NOT LOL. They have you make your configuration their site, and email it to them. What's on the site as far as price is what you pay for the car, plus taxes etc. PM me your email addy and I'll send you the spread sheet they emailed me so you can see what all fees and crap they have worked in there.

ya i was extensively looking at buying a mini in the US when i was looking for another car a couple months back.. the savings are crazy!

I saw a mint black w/ white roof and stripes at a local used dealer (autopark, pretty well known around my parts..) it was a '04, 65k km on the clock, not S, and they were asking 16.5k for it... they weren't willing to budge on the price at all.. I thought it was pretty steep considering i could get a brand new one with warranty for just about 22k..

I opted to buy an '01 protege from my buddy instead.. 70k km, and it's mint.. and i scored it for 5k after all taxes, and fees were paid... i couldn't pass that deal up.. i'll drive it for a little while, then i'll be back in the mini hunt! hehehe

I'm trying to sell the 944 right now... it's hard... the price is more than fair.. pretty cheap, actually.. and no bites! lol
