Shifting Problem Solved!!! Thanks!!!
after reading the great posts concerning the transmission and shifting in particular, I decided to follow the advice and change to a Synthetic manual transmission oil. I had some problems with the upper 17mm allen screw but finally was able to get it unscrewed. The buttom screw was another story...it becamed stripped and I was unable to get it off. I had purchased a small pump that screws into the openning of the Mobil One oil (replacing the original cap.) I used that pump in reverse and pumped out the old oil one squirt at a time. it took about thirty minutes and it worked! I pumped in the syntheic oil, replaced the top screw and started the engine. I took the car for a mile or so ride and it was amazing!!! the shifting was like on a new car. I was recently looking for a transmission replacement because of the shifting ( new clutch...not the clutsch!!) and for thrity bucks and two hours of labor, I have a "NEW" transmission. Great guys.
I learned EVERYTHING about my car from Clarks, the Porsche manual...but mostly from you guys. this forum is my mainline. thanks!!!! |
