My car so far

Just a few pictures of my car so far, shes come a LONG way since i got it.
I've done SOOO much stuff to it i don't have to energy right now to type that much lol Would be happy to awnser any questions about it.

Interior is kinda dirty from blocking, welded in the floor pan and seat brakets today so i was able to get my reapolstered seats in today and my new windshield installed. Also got my refinished wheels back on. Took me about 12-13hours altogether to refinishing those rims! and theres still pits if you look up close! Was fun though, just one more thing i know how to do now. same with the seats

Yea, It's been an incredible amount of work, I hope the paint god's are with me when i paint her lol

. Ive got a very similar car, guards red with cookie cutters. Ive only had it a couple of weeks and it just about ready to get on the road.

Ive just done the belts and the engine is running nice and smooth. Ive had to make some plates up to fix the damaged seat mounts on the drivers side floor, cant weld myself so need to find someone with a mig to sort that.

Going to tax and insure it tomorrow. If it doesnt blow up in the next couple of weeks I was going to respray it myself and get someone to refurbish the wheels.

By the sounds of it you did yours yourself and it looks like you have made a good job of them, how did you set about doing it? Mine are quite corroded at the moment, what kind of condition were yours in to start with? I'm up for anything that will save me a few ££ so I would give it a go myself.

Well at my work we have a giant air compressor, so i used small 1 or 2" buffing wheels on my die grinder, so 20,000 rpm's help alot
First strip the old clearcoat off with stripper
Then i used scotch brite disks on my die grinder and got the old finish off
Then i started sanding and sanding and sanding lol first with 150, then to 240 then finished off with 400 wet, There were pits too deep to sand out so there not perfect but a whole hell of alot better than before.
Then i started with fine rubbing compound with my die grinder and 1" or 2" buffing wheel, went around the lip twice with that.
Then i used a Metal polishing compound again with the die grinder and buffer around with that twice but with a diffferent wheel, always keep different grits seperate.
Then after i was satified i masked off the tire and ring i scuffed up the old black paint and resprayed gloss Jet Black, Then after thats cured i masked the black and clearcoated the alluminum ring.

For my antenna i need to find a inside window mount one, so far have had no luck trying to find one at futureshop, radio shack etc.. Going to have to try a special car audio shop. It's hard to see from the pictures how much work has been done because the way you guys see it now is after about 300hours of labour. me,my dad and a friend for about 5 weekends so far.
I'm going to know these cars inside out by the time i'm done lol

I have access to a shot blaster at work. I'm wondering if I could clean them up and get rid of the corrosion with that. Then give it a good sanding and polishing and spray the centres.

you could try it, but i don't know if it will roughen it up, your gonna get hit and covered in sand lol
