New tires for my S

It's time to get new tires for my 944S. It has the 16 inch sewer lid wheels, original sizes are 225 50 16 for rears and 205 55 16 for front. My question is can I play with these numbers a bit or do I need to get the same size. If I can play with the size what do any of you suggest?

you could go 245/45/16 in the rear and 225/50/16 up front to fill in those wheel wells a bit more.

Thanks, I wanted to make sure I could go that wide on the wheel and have it still fit.

I just bought some tires for my S2 and I did some research and found that I could get Boxster wheels and tires (maybe not new but close) for almost the same price as new tires...not a bad idea ....

Those are the sizes I have on my S. Can't see the width to well in the pic, but you can see how it fills the wells. The backs are wide!

are the rims 7 inches wide in the front and 8 in the rear? If so the 225/245 combo is the M030 option on the S. I have these sizes and they look good.

I put 225 50 16s front and rear on sewer lids on my 87 and I'm considering changing the fronts back to 205's because of excessive tramlining and pulling from side to side which it didn't do hardly at all with the 205's. This may partly be caused by needing an alignment I'm not sure
