944 Threshold/Sill solution
 

I have been putting up with scratching the door sills of my 89 S2 ever since I bought it and it's been driving me crazy! Every time I opened the door there they were, SCRATCHES! I would touch up and re-touch up and then I had an idea. So, I thought I would pass it on to anyone else who suffers from the same problem.

I bought regular 911 threshold strips from Pelican and cut them to fit the application.
Part #911-551-619-00-M260 Left & #911-551-620-00-M260 Right.

The cutting involves a sharp box knife or one of those plastic disposable types where one can trim the blade as it gets dull. I found the thin blade worked best. You will also need masking tape, a straight edge about 36”long min and about an hours worth of time. Strong fingers help a lot to!
Lay the threshold strip flat on a 2x6 on saw horses with the rolled edge over the edge of the 2x6. Next I used a roll of drywall tape to make a template from the door sill of the car. Lay the template down over the threshold strip with a straight edge on top of both and then clamp them to the 2x6. Set the metal straight edge in about 3/16 in from the long edge without the over hang. Shave about 3/16" off the long side. Position a smaller straight edge to cut the angled end.

Could have I suppose, but I like the black better. Goes with the interior better. No stainless anywhere on my car. Just my design aesthetic I guess.

That is true. There isnt much shiny on those cars. I have thought about doing some type of sill in my car once it gets back from the shop. I am just a whore for brushed stainless. May get some and bend it on my fathers brake and then get a friend to laser etch it for me.

how do you scratch the doorsills?

ive had my car 2.5 years now and the only marks on my sills are dried waterspots from washing the car.

Idk I dont recall mine having any scratches but all cars need a little bling.

I thought it was pretty funny when I did a google on door sills, it came up with prices from 20-50 USD...I then googled Porsche door sills and the prices went to 500-900 USD...give me a break !
