Trans Compatibility
Anyone know what Y/M of automatic transmissions will go into an 89' 944? The car came original with an auto, so this is not a swap...Not that I know of anyone who would actually swap out a 5spd for an auto...
**EDIT**: Also can anyone tell me the exact book time for R and R of this transmision? Shop is trying to rip me off but someone told me it was only around 2 hours of work, but I want to come back at them with an exact number. Last edited by Mozencrath; 07-03-2008 at 04:09 AM.. |

Your best bet is to find the ID number of the tranny already in your car:
![]() I don't have my labor guide in front of me, it's at the shop, but as I recall R&R is 3.5-4 hours. Don't quote me on that, I just swapped an Auto tranny in a '44 about 3 months ago and I am pretty sure that's what the book called for. (Though if the mechanic has experience swapping them, it only takes a couple of hours) Hope it helps! -Nick
