A different rear deck lid problem
I have an 89 S2 where the black paint around the inside edge of the rear deck glass is flaking off, from age I suspect. At the moment I don’t have any glass-frame delaminating issues, just wondering how I should deal with the flaking paint?
I want to tint the windows but can’t until I fix the pealing paint. I was thinking of removing the paint since most of it looks like it will come off without to much trouble. Anyone else have this problem and how did you deal it?

Well I wanted to tint my windows, but the guys that did it told me I had to peel the black liner off. the only problem was that in some parts it was extra thick and on there very well. The secret is a razor like a box cutter blade that is straight and flat that you can scrape/peel it off with. It will take a while to do it, but after some elbow grease it will come off.
And I love my tint. So much easier to keep the car cool.

How dark did you go? I was thinking of around 35%. It was on another car at the shop and it looked about right.
