Clanging from the Bottom End

Not my car thankfully...

I was out for dinner and a drive with the local PCA bunch tonight. Another fellow named Steve has a 924S.

Well, he started it up to leave and there was a horrendous metal-slapping clanging noise. It sounds like the bottom-end (right side of the engine when looking at it).

It is non-rhythmic, random kind of clanging.

Any ideas?

I hope it's not the same sound I heard before I dropped a valve seat :0

Speedy:)

Bearing could be going.

Could of also dropped something and it made it's way to the oil pan. I would also take the starter out and see if anything drops out from there.

He's having it towed to the mechanic. He'll get the bad news tomorrow.

I droped a bolt down the hole in the belhousing and it was kind of the same thing. Didn't know i had dropped a bolt there. Took the starter out and it fell right on my face.
