944s Heater problem
I have a 1988 944s and the heater is stuck on! Any ideas as it is rather hot here in the UK.......
Thanks |
You probably have a loose heater control cable "clip". Usually by your feet (RHD?) Look up under dash for cable and vent to check.
OR, Your heater control valve is stuck open. If it has a white deposit you may as well replace it and stop the leak. OR, The cable to the heater control valve lost the "clip" that holds the cable to the valve. Good luck-easy fix John_AZ 1988 924S + 1987 924S Sorry to hear about the latest pier fire |

Thanks John yes i'm a bit partial to Piers and the latest fire is a blow and there is another victim local to me sitting in the sea at Hastings which is closed at the moment due to structual problems. All the lottery money floating around the UK and they can't find the money to save a victorian icon! Unbelievable.........

Followup.
There is also a vacuum canister used to control the vents. Located near the back top area of engine bay. You may have a bad hose or connection. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1217422738.jpg Whats up? Not one Porsche showed!;) I owned an MG Midget years ago. Great Pier as well. John_AZ |
I had the same problem a few months ago. Basically had a very hot 944 (inside of it that is). Turned out to be a bad heater water flow control valve (stuck open) and the infamous broken "clip". Both were easy and inexpensive to get and replacement was easy (see Clarks-Garage for great help). now the car is comfortable to drive and the next step is to get the AC working!

Happened to me last week. The plastic clip broke. $1.25 here at Pelican!

When you guys reattached your clip, did you verify that the whole pillar/arm moves?
Mine doesn't move once attached. I could move it manually before I installed the new clips... What does that one do, bottom floor vents? 85.5+ :( |
Help? It appears only one of the two metal rods 'moves' when I move the sliders on the climate control. They both make noise like they are trying to, but when I watch the gold metal arms, only one moves... ?
:( I am still getting some heat though, I will try to finish replacing the vacuum lines. Anyone have pics of the heater control valve? please? |
