Cold AC, finally!
Bingo! I've got the AC working very nicely! Low side 30 psi and high side 210 psi, center vent temp 48 F. After waiting several weeks for parts and tools the 944S is feeling very comfortable.
Thanks to Amazon.com for the gauges ($126) and the vacuum pump ($257). There were some additional parts needed - R134A adaptor fittings, o-rings, dryer/receiver, the R134A and oil. I'm probably about where it would have cost had I taken it to a mechanic but now I have everything I need to do the same work on my 924S. I did discover that this car had been converted to R134A by finding the green o-rings on the dryer/receiver. Whoever charged it though removed the adaptor fittings and did not attach a label.
