Unhappy How Much Would You Pay......

Hey guys i would like to know how much you would pay for my 19851/2 944 i've spent 5000.00 on the car 2600.00 for all major service and about 1000.00 in parts and accessories i'm planing on selling the car i know i wont get what i spent but just curious to know how much of a beating i'm going to take. ...... new parts timing belt, water pump, all new hoses, and belts rear shocks, plugs, cap, wires, fresh tires and rims, new mats front and rear, fresh diff. oil and seal new rear axel boots ,new rear hatch seal and pins new fog lights, new steering wheel..and a host of other small things i will be selling the car with many parts that i have. shop manuals and the records that i have. the car has 115000 miles and it was repainted in some areas due to fading car was never in any accidents the p.o was a liar but he did own it for 14 years....let me know what you guys think i need to get at least 6gs for it .....the car is not perfect can use a bit of work but on a scale of 1 to 10 she is a seven.

Nice looking cosmetically. Good major service--omitted the clutch---was it done?

I have seen SO many 944s from the NE lately especially CT. You may not see $5K.

I've been watching a few on FleaBay, in the last day or so an 87 with a few less miles, semi-recent service (last 1-2 years IIRC) didn't even make $4k.

An 88 with a few more miles, relatively recent service, didn't look quite as nice cosmetically (call it a 5-10ft car) just barely got over $3k.

Looking on Craigslist shows more of the same, $6k will get you a 944S or maybe even an S2, and can even get you into a rougher turbo model. I have seen a couple of $5-6k 944's, but they are almost always lower mileage or fully documented or are basically in great condition.

But that is around here, and there haven't been enough for sale in the area to truly get a good idea on where values are at.

thanks ....i've noticed that 944 prices are getting lower i really believe i paid too much but that's my own fault this is what happens when you are impulsive like i am .....as far as the fog lights ....i knew someone was going to ask my friend had them in his basement for ten years in the package brand new. but of course i threw the package out i think the name was eclipse they say rally on the glass in front that splits the two bulbs one driving light the other fog ...sorry buy the way any light will fit with small mods as long as they are in cased. thanks

thats my color so im a little biased, looks to be 4.5-6K if it purrs and handles nice, doesnt have to be perfect but its nice and straight. The thing that would make it 6K for me is the above plus: working A/C

911Paige,

I like the engine bay photo. Clean and tidy. It looks like you may have even replaced the headlight relay cover. Normally they are brittle and torn.
You might want to paint the brake booster black. Again it looks like the MC was changed but the booster had the paint removed by the brake fluid.
I would take off the snorkle and cute filter from the belt case. The TSB says to cap it. Any hardware store should have a rubber chair cap.
FWIW, I cut the the stem off of an old tire valve to plug the cam inspection hole.

Good looking.

Thanks Jon i will cap the cam inspection hole ..... it's funny how when you look at your engine you don't see these things until some one else points it out .... yes i agree a little black paint will go a long way what's the story with the snorkle filter thingy. i put so it doesn't stay blank and nothing falls in by accident i thought the belt case needed air flow ... what's TSB.... and thanks for all the good comments on my car i may just keep or trade up to a turbo ....

That's what the ad in ebay called it I thought it would look a little better than stock, any suggestions I'm thinking about changing it I'm not pleased with the look.

Regarding the intake, I'd go back to stock. With that you're just sucking hot air. I bet you'd see gains going back to stock.
