AFM in action!
I'm sure many of us, especially myself, have wondered how exactly does the AFM behave in different speed/load situations, I have used an elaborate array of duct tape and carpet tape to secure my camera and a small flashlight inside my airbox. I then went around the block and down the road, trying various things, including a WOT run though 1st and 2nd to see just how this thing responds to different things, especially if and when it ever reaches full open. At WOT just before the rev limiter, it looks like it still doesn't quite bottom out, and only seems to reasonably approach full open at more than ~5500 rpms.
enjoy! (it sounds GOOD in there!) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KASscLNHhhI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KASscLNHhhI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |
That is cool!

Awesome job !!!! Thanks for sharing...
|
Definitely cool.
|
That's just too cool!
And you are one brave one to do it too! lol |
Very creative! Now, just for kicks....I think you should lock your brakes up, make a sound like you hit something, and have a lot of screaming.....:)
|
full revs sound amazing... great video. I just cleaned mine up and was wondering what it's like while running.
|
Thats really cool, Good job
|
That is way cool!! Now we can all see why the MAF setup works better......no air restriction. I bet the barn door opens all the way when what it is under full boost in a turbo......

You should hear the car with the air filter and air box cover removed. After several failed attempts to get a continuous video because the camera would only just barely not fit with the air filter installed and it would push the shutter button while driving, I had to do it with everything taken off. It sounded like I had a glasspack exhaust, except that it wasn't quite that loud, and it was comming from under the hood! |
I get the Joy of hearing that all the time with my MAF

And Fast924S, even though you have a MAF, it just won't sound like what mine sounded like unless you completely remove the air filter/airbox cover (or cone air filter if applicable). Take your filter off, gun it down the road, and you'll know what I'm talking about. It sounds like a straight pipe only not ear splitting loud. Too bad the filter is necessary equipment. |
Yea I hear it, Its a low grumble sound, Its cool, Gotta remember I dont have a air box, My MAF is straight threw with a cone filter, You can hear it.

Even with my stock airbox with the downspout removed and running a K&N stock replacement filter, I get a pretty good sound from it. I do agree a MAF and cone is definitely the closest anyone can get to a "straight" intake sound, though. |
Very cool video. I love seeing the inner workings.
Speedy:) |
Excellent video, very creative. Glad the tape held, it would have been unfortunate to see the camera body shoot into the intake.

Nice work.

I had to watch the clip again. This is one of the coolest threads I have seen on here to date. Simple but elegant!!
