You ever notice?
Today On my way home from work, It was a nice sunny clear day about 70 degrees and Im drivin on the highway in my nice just waxed 924S, as I look way down the road I start to notice that just about every car on the highway just blends in, Its a sea of dark boring colors, Browns, Grays, Blacks all the cars just kinda blend into the background and all are just normal cars mostly dirty SUV's. Then I started thinking I must look like some kinda dick in this bright gaurds red porsche LOL, No wonder the cops can see me from miles away

yup!
I LOVE not owning one of those cardboard boxes that all the other sheeple drive around. that said, there's nothing like driving something unique, but stealth. guards red looks great, but it IS an eyeball magnet, and what's worse here in FL the sun kills it quickly. i prefer my zermatt silver and gemini grey any day... just as much fun to drive as red p-cars, but without all the worries that cops'll be drawn to my car because it's the wrong color.

i deliberately painted my car a color that stands out among other cars, yet doesnt scream "LOOK AT ME!" like a bright moutain-dew colored car would.

I have had a turd brown (sepia) 71 911, a white 911, a gray 911, and a red 944. The red 944 is the best looking thing going. It may stand out but the lines and the uniqueness are what make it fun for me. You just don't see them in very good condition that much and there will be fewer every day. It still amazes me how 911 owners somehow are unable to see the 944. They drive right by but are unable to acknowledge the existance of it. I guess it may be true that the only difference between a Porsche and a porcupine is the the pricks are on the outside of the porcupine.

The exact same thing hapens in the UK. Most 911 owners apparently perceive themselves as way above 924/944 owners.

same here in Ontario. I've always wanted a 911...but I'm afraid of becoming a prick.
or should I say, bigger prick than I am now? ![]()

I confess, I was an air-cooled snob for may years. I grew up building and drag racing VW's. My brother and I built some killer stroker motors with dual Webers and put them in early Bugs, Karmann Ghias and dune buggies. We blew away many a Corvette, big-block Trans Am, and Camaro on Friday and Saturday nights in downtown Orlando, Florida in the '70's and early '80's, and we made a lot of money doing so. If I remember correctly, we got beat only once....by a guy in a Ford Falcon with a 428 on Nitrous that ran 11's out at Bithlo. Then we progressed into Porsches, mainly 911's and 914's, but we always turned our noses up at the water-cooled next-generation machines, because they had the hated water pump and the engines were in the wrong end of the car. I even turned down an opportunity to drive a cousin's new 1986 944 Turbo, because in my twisted mind, it wasn't a "real Porsche". Then, about 7 years ago, I drove a beat-up 1985-1/2 944 that my brother picked up for a paltry $2000, and I was shocked and amazed with the power and handling of the car.... it was so much fun to drive! I've been hooked ever since. I'm now on my third one, a 1988 Turbo, and these cars continue to impress me every day. I could never drive something like a Camry or an Accord to work every day....I would go mad with boredom. I don't care if I have to work on my car and maintain it regularly....it's actually fun, and the cost and time is well worth the price of admission. These cars are awesome!!

I hate all the other cars, haha. I remember my first time in a Porsche, got picked up by my gym taecher (Her husband owns Holbert's Porsche) in 8th grade in a 2000 911 Turbo. I think that was the firt time going really fast- 100mph+++. Since then I have always wanted a Porsche. I love the 924S 944 series, everything about them from when i first step outside and see it, the way the door sounds when you open it, and the lovely smell that all 3 of mine had when you open the door and stat the engine. I agree with the snobs that drive the new Porsches. I pulled up to a Boxster bout a month ago, he was an older man(Im 22) smoking a pipe wearing shades, and I said, "hey beautiful car, I love the Twist wheels." He looked over at me like he didnt know that I was talking to him. I dont know if it was a nod or he just looked down, then he faced forward, and I made my left a few seconds later. What a jerkoff. But the other night I went out for a drive in my car, and my friend in his-Japanesse car, yes I bust his balls. I saw a Cheyenne S, he was a cool guy, didnt talk to him, but we played for about 5 miles. I think he was the coolest Cheyenne I ever saw,

entertaining the idea

I get most of my work done at Holberts, great service.
A polished well maintained Guards Red Porsche is one of the best colors ever. Stands out in a classy sports car way, not over the top like a bright yellow or orange.
