Starting Issues, Warm, cold dosen't matter!!!! Got Suggestions?

Well, been a little while last time I really neede to get on here. Have had some good luck with my car till now. Having Issues starting any temp and day.

1. Started a few days ago, would not start, had to get a jump from a guy at work, that got it started.
2. Next morning had the charger on the battery all night, charge was good, Tried to start would not start. Had to put the charger on the Start mode to get it running. Made it to work, everything was OK, left at lunch, so I could take the car apart, started with no jump.
3. Check the charge while running looks to be around high 12- 13 at the battery and coming off the alternator, took the alternator off and took to autozone, checked good, no problems checked good.

Today:
1. Repalced the Cap and rotor, looked a little worn and replaced, did nothing.
2. Removed a plug, put in the wire and grounded turned the car over, have spark, seams to be OK.
3. Have an inline gauge at the end of the fuel rail, to start has arounf 40 PSI, then when it gets to running, drops to 34-35.
4. Fuel pump. Will not kick on when you turn the key, you have to try actually turn the motor over before it pressurizes. Is this an issue? Does the pump pressurize when you turn the key to one position?
5. Full fuel.
6. will not start, just turns over, I can spray some starting fluid on the filter and it will start up, that is the only way it will start up now.
7. Noticed the fuel pump on the car, someone had to make it work, they were in it in the past, suggestion?

New parts on the car over the last 6 months, Injectors, plugs, plug wires, coil, cap, rotor, alternator, battery.

Questions.
1. Readings at the connector for the fuel pump? What readings should I have when key is on?
2. What readings should I have on the injector harness plugs?

Thanks for any help. Going to try an dfix it, then see if it is worth to sell. Thanks MIke

Sounds like the starter to me.. Had the same problem couldn't get enough cranking amps to engage the starter. I could put a battery jumper pack on and it was fine. Found a starter at my local auto supply for 104.00 and fixed my problem.. I did bench test the starter with no load and armature came out and spun fine on old one. Starter fixed my problem though..

Start at the begining and keep things simple.

Car wont start on it's own, but starts when jumped.....Obviously a battery problem.

However it could be the cables from the battery to the starter too. Check the resistance on those.

Have the battery load tested, even though it's new. I went through 3 bad batteries from PartsAmerica in the last year, so even new ones can be bad.

BTW, got the sills and have them installed. Very nice! Thanks

Garage
I was having the exact same problems as you described and replaced heaps of things. Wat i found was the wires going fron the main battery cable to the fuse box were corroded and couldnt carry the amps all the time to power up the DME etc.

Well, had an extra NEW DME relay in the glove box, put it in and it made no diff.

Now, last night I was checking the spark, but removing a plug and hooking it up to the wire and grounding it out, noticed that I have a delay in the spark, and I have an orange/yellow spark. Theat tells me that I am having issues with the spark. I ahve a NEW MSD Coil, new rotor, new cap, plug wires and plugs. Suggestions where to check to see if I have issues with that? I am running the 8ohm resistor on the coil, so I don't think I fried it. Thanks Mike

Did you have the problem before you replaced everything?

Well, I have always had the hard start issue. It has neve just started up as soon as you hit the key, you gotta crank it a few times before it will start. Had this issue with the starting several months ago, replaced the alternator found it to be bad, also replaced the battery, everything was working good, except the hard starting, I just got use to it! Mike

Did the coil check as per clarks garage. Here is what I got
I ahve the MSD Coil Blaster 2 with 0.8 ohm ballast
Said that OHM from positive to negative posts on coil The resistance should be 0.4 to 0.6 ohms, I have 0.8( I am guessing due to the 0.8 ballast)

Check the ignition coil secondary coil resistance by connecting an ohmmeter between the coil output terminal and the ignition coil negative terminal. The resistance should be 5000 to 7200 ohms.
I did this, but only have 4.5 mega ohms, trying to find info from MSD. It is a new coil less than 6 months old. Might this be the problem? Or part of it? Thanks

It has a new rotor and cap.
Went through all the grounds, removed cleaned areas off sprayed a corrosion preventative on. removed the Ground battery cable completely from the car, Noticed there was duct tape around the wire! Took the tape off, and found the cable to have gotten hot, rotted away the outter shell and cable corroded, went to get a new cable, hopefully that is one of the problems!

Wanted to give an update. Cleaned all the grounds and replaced the bad battery ground cable, It did not fix the starting issue, gotta look for a sensor or something. But I got my car to start using starting fluid and noticed that the amp meter before was sitting just above the 12 mark, now it is almost at the 14 mark. So did not fix my problem, but did help my system. Got a few sensors to check this afternoon, then I will see whats next. Going to send my computer to someone and amke sure that is not the issue. Mike
