Oil Presure at idle (hot)

My 85.5 944 n/a has 5bar oil pressure when cold and when running hot at normal rpm. at 2000rpm and lower drops to around 3bar when hot. After highway driving then at stop lights it drops to just over 1bar. As the engine cools ( driving down the street etc it comes back to just under 2bar ) I'm running Mobile synthetic oil with o/e porsche filter and the oil pressure switch is new.
I would welcome any input however drastic it's going to be...
Harry..

1 is lowish...

'Hot' oil should post at 2 bar. However, I think the 83 manual says that the warning light may flash on/could dip into that territory on hot hot runs. Is your warning light coming on?

What oil are you running is what people will ask first!

20-50 for summer

10-50 for winter if I recall correctly (I always have to look up oil weights, I always forget!)

What are you running? Don't know? CHANGE IT to the right stuff then get back to us.

The oil used is Mobil 5w50 synthetic and the oil light did flash on now and again but since the new switch was installed it has not come on and the oil pressure is stabalized

Fine, per owner's manual.

That has been the norm since the first 924 hit the road, I dont think they changed that until the S2 and 968.

You may want to switch to the 20-50.
What state are you in.
Hotter states would warrant 20-50.

Thank's guy's... I can breath a little more now. I'm in Toronto Ont. Origionally from the UK. ( yeah we do get some hot summers here too lol. I will change change the Grade used to 15w50 as i don't think 20w50 is readily available up here. I don't run the car in the winter at all it hasn't seen one for at least 10 years.

On my 86 when i bought it the oil presure was droping to 2 bar at idle when was driving it hard and 4.5 bar on the throttle.I changed the oil to Castrol Edge 10w60 racing and now it holds 3 bar at idle when driving hard and 3.5 bar when driving normal and 5 on the throttle. The temperature outside doesn't seem to affect it,drove it summer and winter.Oo and it cost me 15euro/1L but its worth it.
