Fuel Injector Harness Electrical Question??

Hey Guys, Well getting to the end of what I can find wrong with my car, getting to be a pain! Doing a few checks and went to the Clarks Garage. Started a few tests. Got to the test to check the Injector Harness. Said to turn the key to the on position and check the Harness for 12VDC One connector you will have the 12VDC and the other harness you will read zero. Well did the test, and I have the full voltage in both lines? What would cause this? I have figure that I have a problem with the computer and it is not letting the correct voltage to start it, so I am wondering if it is putting voltage where it should not be. I noticed that when I did get my car started, with starting fluid, and run for a few mins, the DME Relay was pretty hot, should not be hot for only a few mins of running. Thanks for the help.

Actually, what you have found is correct.
The injector harness should show +12v at both terminals, the DME switches one terminal to ground to fire the injectors. If the connectors had + and - 12v, then the injector would be open all the time, thus dumping fuel without cranking the engine.

I have seen DME relays get warm after alot of driving, but never that quickly. You might look at replacing it. Have you tried the jumper technique?

As for your other post, the fuel pump will not run until the key is turned to the "start" position.

Good luck!
-Nick

P.S. sending PM now

NOt sure about the jumper technique. I have dont the checks from clarks, and the fuel pump works, if that is what you mean. I ahve 2 DME Relays. one new and one old, they both did the same thing. Thanks for the info.Mike
