Push button start...

So I was having interminent starting problems that were driving me crazy.. Sometimes it would start for days then it wouldn't.. After posting and testing everything it was obv. that I had a high open in my ignition wire going to my starter solenoid. After already taking the dash apart to do the ignition switch I didn't want to go back just yet.. I went to the store and bought a push button switch for $4 and an inline fuse. Now I get 12v to the solenoid instead of 7v and can start with a button until I fix the wire...but I kinda like the push start feature now :D

Glad you got it sorta figured out. If you're interested there's a good source for this kind of stuff (push button switch) at a web site called 12voltguy. I go there to window shop when I'm dreaming about working on my Jeep . . . .

I used to have a push button start on my Chevy LUV that I had, I rigged it up that way so I didn't need a key because it wasn't like anyone was going to steal that rusting piece of garbage.

I wired so I still need the key.... just hope no one hits the button while I am driving...

maybe not the key but you had to have an on/off switch someplace.

Yeah, I had a toggle switch to turn on electric and then a push button for start. The power toggle was in plain sight and the push button I shoved back in the hole where the radio had been at one point (when I owned it the radio was sitting on the front seat, I got it to work... once)

I did wire in a safety switch after I knew it all worked... I will not be fixing the ignition wire any time soon I love the push button start and don't wanna go back :)
